บ้านห้วยหัน Ban Huai Han

The village

What there is in the village, besides the people.

วัดรัตนคงคาราม — Wat Rattana Khongkha Ram

The village temple. Its monks accompany the year — Songkran, Khao Phansa, Loi Krathong, Magha Bucha — and the festivals in village life mostly begin here.

Beside the hall stands the bell tower. Along the wall are the เจดีย์, the chedi where families keep the ashes of their dead.

โรงเรียนบ้านห้วยหัน — Huai Han School

The only school for the two villages. Its hall roofs the whole yard, so assemblies, ceremonies and sport carry on through the sun and the rain — the whole hall was a gift to the school.

The school keeps its own pages at bhhs.ac.th.

Everyday

The petrol station is where the road bends, and the shop beside it sells what a household runs out of. Beyond the last houses the cassava begins, and behind the cassava stands the wall of hills that closes our valley to the north — nine hundred and fifty metres at its highest.

น้ำตกดาดาด — the DADAD waterfall

Out of the village, on the Chi. The waterfall has its own page — with the dinosaurs, the canoes and the rock shelves.
